VSFX_Project 3: Final Portfolio

In this project, Students can choose any topic to be their final project, but it should present the photorealistic. As for me, I will choose the environment which relates to the robot and outer space. This environment's style includes the imaginative and real world. Hence, I would like to try combine the multimedia's texture which tends to the illustration style. Outline & Goal
My main character is robot, who lives in the organic and machine's environment. To me, this robot owns a sense and sensibility's personality, so I will create stylize environment which includes these characteristics. How to achieve the balance between stylize and photorealistic quality is my primary issue and goal. The secondary goal is what kind of atmosphere of lighting that I will use in this environment.

Software & Setting
Maya is the main software that I am going to create the whole background and objects. Next, I will use 3D paint or photoshop to assign the texture. Then, I will render different layers and put them into Nuke to do the composting. High quality resolution is necessary. The film size will be 720x480, and plan to render 200 frames. There are about 6 organic and machine models in this scene. Camera tracking will focus on the texture and follow the source of lighting.

Models
Due to this project's idea comes from illustration, so I would like to create it not only with similar style, but also looks like a photoreal.


Texture & Maps

Most of models, I did a UV's map and assigned texture to them. Theses textures are related to the Mother Nature, such as tree, stone, grass, flower, etc. The other textures are iron and metal which assigned to the snail and coke spacecraft.


Lighting

About the lighting, I used final gather and spot lights in my scene. Here is the final image.
